According to Kottler´s 1996 essay, only approximately 30 percent of organisational change processes can be expected to succeed. Several further studies throughout the years have thereafter confirmed Kottler´s findings.
But are there any ways for a company to increase the standard 30 percent success-rate of organisational change processes?
In a McKinsey report published in February 2007 by Carolyn B. Aiken and Scott P. Keller, the authors point out the CEO:s significance in order for organisational change processes to become permanent and successful.
According to Aiken and Keller the CEO:s main challenge is making the transformation meaningful, in order to make sure that all employees commits themselves fully to the organisational changes that are about to take place.
Therefore modern day CEO:s, especially in a time of financial crisis such as this, need to be able to communicate commitment to the ongoing change process, in order to make sure the changes becomes definite and efficient.
